One of my mother’s sayings to me was “nobody is perfect.” It may be cliché, but it is so true. This saying can absolutely  be said about Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. An incredibly skilled football player who is on track to be an all time great, but he also continues to a lack of  control of his  emotions that has people questioning his character.

Nobody has quite splashed on the scene the way Odell has. Becoming the quickest player in NFL history to get 200 receptions is quite impressive. Not to mention is 25 touchdowns and over 3,000 receiving yards in just two seasons. His talent level is rare and if Odell keeps it up it is obvious to everybody that he will be giving a speech in Canton, Ohio one day.

So while nobody can dispute the claim that Odell is great. What is a topic of conversation is his temper. The one example that everybody will turn to is the game last year vs. the Panthers where Odell just could not control his emotions as he took cheap shots at corner back Josh Norman and threw a temper tantrum on the  sideline.

Now as we fast forward to this past Sunday, Odell again had a rematch with Norman. As a Giants fan you hoped that Odell had learned from his embarrassing mistakes as most people would. But sadly he did not, Norman easily got in Beckham’s head, which caused Odell to start damaging team equipment and crying on the sideline, so clearly Odell has not in fact learned his lesson.

This should be concerning to Giants fans because we all know how great he is but his distractions have continued to damage this team. The Giants now have to spend their energy on controlling Odell when they need to be focused on getting better and actually making the playoffs.

Odell needs to learn quickly how to control himself because now that everybody knows they can slow down Odell by getting in his head, they will indeed do it.
