Dean Braun’s Pivot from Pace

The Lubin Business school’s influential Dean Braun is stepping down and moving on from Pace.

Braun is unique from the Lubin deans that came before him as he did not go to business school, but is indeed a businessman.

“With a background in business rather than academics, I am market-driven and focused on outcomes,” Braun said.

The results of his approach as dean include mandating the Professional Planning and Business Practice course for all Lubin students, establishing the Pace Path and adding numerous new Master’s degree programs to the curriculum. All the new programs and innovations have been added to adapt Pace to the ever changing business environment.

Braun has his own take on what he is most proud of accomplishing at Pace.

“I am proud of the collaboration among faculty and administration to help students become their best selves. Everyone at Pace has the opportunity to be excellent at something if they are willing to work hard at,” said Braun. “We help change the trajectory of lives; there is nothing more profoundly meaningful than that.”

Braun created new programs and added courses but at the end of the day it is up to the students to make the most out of them. On the topic of students taking their success into their own hands, the Dean also offers some advice for this particularly stressful time of the academic year.

“The stress of school provides the opportunity to practice time management, prioritization, focus, and putting out full effort,” said Braun. “Those are skills and habits of mind that will help you achieve your goals for the rest of your life.”

With all the advice, help and fundamental change that Dean Braun has brought to Pace, the final question remains: why is the Dean saying goodbye?

“I don’t intend to say goodbye to Pace,” Braun said. “I love so much about this place and it’s my intention to stay connected to my colleagues, as a student mentor and a guest lecturer.”

Braun intends to always stay connected with Pace and will never be out of reach.

“My decision to pivot is about realizing that it’s time to work toward other personal goals and flex my entrepreneurial muscles again,” said Braun regarding his departure. “Ten years is the longest I have ever stayed in one role and that’s because being part of students’ lives is meaningful beyond words; I will always cherish the time I spent as Lubin’s Dean.”

Dean Braun’s career at Pace took on an even more meaningful purpose as connections and relationships formed with students and other staff members. If you would like the opportunity to form a connection with Dean Braun before he leaves, reach out to his assistant or contact the Dean directly via email.
