WEST PALM BEACH, FL – Patrick Gleason struck out seven batters while keeping a clean sheet for a 4-0 Pace shutout victory over Bentley University on Saturday afternoon, for the squad’s fifth consecutive win, improving to 8-1 on the season, the team’s best start in four years.

The Setters scored in the top of the first inning when a Nate Carminucci ground out to short scored Matt Rinaldi.

Pace secured two more runs in the top of the third after Hunter Goldstein hit a single to centerfield which brought home Mitch McCabe, after which a pair of subsequent passed balls scored Carminucci to extend the Pace lead to 3-0.

Luke Jacobi scored the final run of the ballgame from second base in the seventh inning after a Bentley error brought the grad student home.

Rinaldi, Jacobi, McCabe, Carminucci, Goldstein, Luke Rivara, Mason Baronian, and Ben Tullo each recorded a hit in the win over the Falcons, with Carminucci and Goldstein also registering an RBI.

Gleason (2-0) allowed just five hits spread across seven innings, without a single walk.

Pace and Bentley continue their Florida series tomorrow at noon.
