Editors Note: This is a story that will be continually updated as The Pace Chronicle receives more information. 

A staff member at Pace is in serious condition on a ventilator at a local Westchester hospital, according to an email sent to faculty by the College of Health Professions. The member has been approved to receive plasma treatment from someone who has tested negative for COVID-19 after originally testing positive. The plasma treatment of the antibodies is intended to help the member fight off the virus. The plasma donor must be free of any symptoms for two weeks and has to have an O-positive or O-negative blood type.

Pace is asking if anyone may be able to help the faculty member to contact the Haub Law school Assistant Dean Josephine Wolf @[email protected] or at (913) 422-3642.

Even if someone cannot help in this particular situation, there are other ways to continue to help others during this pandemic. The American Red Cross is continuing to look for blood donors, which can be sent up by individual appointments. Moreover, if you have recovered from the virus, you can donate plasma to The Red Cross to help those who are in life-threatening conditions.

Many members of the Pace community are currently working or volunteering their time in healthcare. Furthermore, the university donated personal protection equipment to Westchester and NYC hospitals.
