On April 16, Pace University released their official plan for this year’s commencement ceremonies.

The virtual ceremony will take place on May 17 at 1 p.m.  Pace Board of Trustee chairman Mark Besca will confer degrees, and honorary degree recipients. Award winners will be named, and student speakers will deliver their addresses during the virtual ceremony. Students, their friends and families, and faculty can either join the stream in real time and participate  via the chat function, or they can go back later and watch saved recordings of the ceremony.

There will be four separate virtual ceremonies: one for New York City undergrads, one for Pleasantville undergrads, one for grad students, and one for law students. Dr. Philip Ozuah, president and CEO of Montefiore Medicine will speak at the Pleasantville virtual commencement ceremony, and Rep. Nita Lowey, a retired member of Congress, will receive the Opportunitas in Action Award.

In addition to the virtual ceremonies, Pace will host a series of in person events exclusive to students. They will have the opportunity to gather with their friends so they can celebrate and take photos in a safe, socially distant fashion.

Pleasantville’s events will take place on May 1 in Goldstein Fitness Center. Each school will have their own time slot:

• College of Health Professions: 10 a.m.
• Dyson: 11 a.m.
• Lubin: 1 p.m.
• School of Education: 2 p.m.
• Seidenberg: 2:30 p.m.

Students who wish to attend in-person events must register by Sunday April 25 at 5 p.m. 

Pace encourages seniors to post family photos, fondest Pace memories, hopes for the future, and words of thanks on social media with #PaceGrad2021 and tag the university so that they can re-share such photos and videos throughout the month of May and include them in the virtual ceremonies.

Additionally, Career Services is asking seniors to take a short survey on their post-graduation plans for a chance to win one of ten $200 Amazon gift cards.
