DJ Henry’s Parents Attend State of The Union

On Tue., Jan. 20, President Barrack Obama gave his State of the Union Address. Among the attendants were Angela and Dan Henry, parents of the late Danroy “DJ” Henry Jr.

Henry was a Pace student and member of the football team, whose life ended in October 2010 when he was shot by officer Aaron Hess in a New York suburb.

Angela and Dan Henry attended the State of the Union as guests of the Massachusetts congressional delegation. Representing Easton, Mass., hometown of the Henry family, was Congressman Joseph Kennedy III, who is urging the Justice Department to pursue a more thorough investigation of the Henry case.

The case of the death of Henry was brought before a New York grand jury, but the jury failed to indict Officer Hess, who fired into the wind shield of the car being driven by Henry.

It was discovered that another policeman had also shot at Hess that evening in an attempt to protect Henry.

Congressman Kennedy and Senator Elizabeth Warren are among other delegates who signed a letter, seeking updates from the Justice Dept.’s investigation.
