Pace Football Falls To Bentley

WALTHAM, M.A.- Pace Football was defeated convincingly this past Saturday at Bentley University. The Falcons outpaced the Setters 41-20 on their home turf.

Waltham, Massachusetts was the scene for both Pace’s first road game of the season and their first game for their NE-10 campaign.

Unlike their season opener, this game did not have as fast a start. The Bentley defense held Pace to little both by air and by ground. Pace’s defense also held its own in the first half.

Bentley ate up most of the first quarter. They had two drives, both lasting nearly 5 minutes and both ending with two field goals.

In the second quarter, it would be 10 minutes of unsuccessful drives by both the Falcons and Setters. Finally, with just under 6 minutes left, Bentley got into the end zone.  It would be the only touchdown of the half. Every score would belong to Bentley. Into the locker rooms, the score was 13-0 Falcons.

In the third quarter, Bentley’s run game would get them another 7 points putting the Setters down 20-0. Pace would finally get on the board in just under 5 minutes. Graduate student, Carlton Aiken, connected with junior wide receiver, Teddy Harper, for 7 yards and 6 points and Ben Franchino kicked in the 7th.

The fourth quarter was all Bentley. The Falcons would score twice in the first 10 minutes. First was a 10-yard run into the endzone after a long punt return. Then at 9:58, Bentley was in again to make the game 34-7. By then, the game was out of reach. Pace would score twice themselves but it was too little too late.

With that defeat. Pace begins 0-1 both in conference play and on the road. They play again in New Haven, Connecticut versus Southern Connecticut State University on Friday. The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 pm.
