#2 Ranked Women’s Lacrosse Downs #22 University of New Haven
The 2nd Ranked Pace Women’s Lacrosse defeated the 22nd-ranked University of New Haven Chargers for their seventh straight victory and sixth over a ranked opponent
Tuesday’s game was Pace’s 4th straight versus a ranked team, the previous three coming versus formidable Northeast-10 foes. This time, they are back home after a road victory over 24th ranked Southern New Hampshire University.
The offense came often for Pace in the first half. They began the first quarter with 6 goals. Senior Attacker Julie Urraro had 2 go in the back of the net. Quarter 2 saw 5 more on the board for Pace getting them to double digits by halftime. Graduate Midfielder Kayla Conway was the 6th different Setter to score when she put Pace up 9-4 at the 10:37 mark.
The Setter defense held the Chargers to 3 goals in the 1st and 2nd quarters. It kept the offense comfortable to have aggression in their attack. Pace led at halftime 11-6.
More of the same happened for the Blue and Gold. The Setters’ defensive front allowed only 1 goal in the 3rd quarter as the attack put up 6 more. Pace scored 5 straight goals after New Haven’s 1 early in the third, making it 17-7, out of reach for the Chargers.
The Final Score was Pace 20, New Haven 10. It was Pace’s 7th win by double figures, 6 of those versus ranked opponents. The Setters’ resume continues to strengthen as the season ends at the end of this month.
Leading the Setters was Graduate Midfielder Aleya Corretjer with 7 points.(3 goals, 4 assists) She is fresh off her record-breaking Saturday afternoon at Southern New Hampshire University where she became the all-time leader in assists for Women’s Lacrosse.
Junior midfielder Angelina Porcello had 6 points with 3 goals and 3 assists. Urraro had 4 points, all by way of the goal.
