The Start of the fall semester means the commencement of the athletic year. From now through May next year, our 14 teams will represent Pace University as the Setters here in Pleasantville, throughout New York State, and across the East Coast. That includes September through December, volleyball, soccer, and field hockey. You’ll see plenty of posts and stories, with even hearing about games through word of mouth.
Home games will be plentiful and worth going to. Yet, there are some that you have to be there in the stands, like home games. From rivalry games to specific events, here are nine must-sees for fall ‘24:
Field Hockey
-September 3rd at 3 pm vs Bloomberg University: the first game of the year for Pace Field Hockey is a matinee. Catch the team’s first game back at Northwell Stadium as they hope to return to the NCAA Tournament.
–Noon & Soccer 6 pm on September 28th: Two games for two special times in Pace Athletics History. At 12, Field Hockey celebrates 10 years since the establishment of the program in 2015. Later at 6 pm, Pace Soccer pays homage to the players of the past on Alumni Day.
–October 5th at 4:30 pm vs Assumption University: NE-10 Rivals face off as the Setters take on the Assumption University Greyhounds in Pleasantville. The Greyhounds eliminated the Setters in last year’s NE-10 Tournament, one year after Pace upset them in the 2022 Tournament as a 7 seed.
Football
-September 3rd at 7 pm vs East Stroudsburg University: Later that day you can stick around to watch the Setters on the gridiron for the first time of the year. The nightcap to a double header expects a rocking stadium.
–October 26th vs American International College: Homecoming concludes with the kickoff of Pace’s match with the Yellow Jackets. Pace has won two straight over AIC including 2022’s Homecoming game.
Volleyball
-September 10th at 7 pm vs University of Bridgeport: Pace Volleyball has their home opener next Tuesday at Ann and Alfred Goldstein Fitness Center. They, too, hope to return to postseason play, as the Setters grabbed a Northeast-10(NE-10) tournament berth in 2023.
–September 17th at 7 pm vs Mercy University: Westchester County neighbors Mercy University visit the Setters for non-conference action. The Mavericks made the NCAA Tournament last year, Pace holds the opportunity to muck up their road back.
-October 12,11 a.m. vs. Franklin Pierce University: The Franklin Pierce Ravens will do battle with the Setters. Pace’s win over the Ravens last year all but guaranteed them a spot in the playoffs.
Soccer
-September 11th at 7 pm vs Jefferson University: Pace Women’s Soccer begins their year at home vs Jefferson University. This will be the third straight year the Setters and Rams meet, both teams winning at home.
–October 22nd at 7 pm vs Southern Connecticut State University: The SCSU Owls visit Pleasantville and the Setters on the pitch. 2023’s game ended in a 3-3 tie with 3 goals coming after the 80th minute.
