In just over a month from now, Pace Athletics and their fans will return to the outdoors. Toward the end of the semester and during the break, multiple announcements were made for the Setters’ spring sports. Practice for teams who are active in February-May is now full speed ahead. Each of the four teams had seasons to remember and subsequently, hope to improve.
Starting at Northwell Stadium, both lacrosse teams had another great year. Pace Women’s Lacrosse had a perfect regular season, winning their first-ever NE-10 Tournament and their second straight NE-10 Regular season title. They returned to the NCAA Tournament, hosting for a second straight year and fell just short of returning to the semifinals. This year, the goal is returning to the NCAA Tournament and eventually the title game. The reigning NE10 Champions released their schedule on January 3. Catch their first game on February 29.
Men’s Lacrosse also reached the NCAA Tournament. Like their fellow Setters, they got to host a game at home. A 16-10 victory over Mercyhurst University on May 8 marked their return to the dance after a 7 year absence. A plethora of returning players provide steady ground for a return to the tournament. Last year’s 13 wins were the most the team had this century. Their win vs American International College on April 17 marked their 10th win, the third straight season with 10 wins. Catch MLAX back in action on February 22 when Molloy University pays a visit.
Pace Softball won 33 games last year, their most since 33 way back in 2003. Pace Softball made their third straight NCAA Tournament in 2024. Supplanting them was a dominant 15-3 home record. Each year, they have won a game in the NE-10 tournament, which is loaded with talent. Pace scored 2+ runs in 17 of last year’s 22 NE-10 games. Their first home game this year is March 23 with a 12 pm first pitch time.
Pace Baseball had plenty success on the diamond themselves. The Setters followed up their 2023 NE-10 Tournament win with a Southwest division title. During the season, Pace held strong when it mattered, a 20-7 home record and 17-10 versus the NE-10. Multiple members from both teams have remained, with chemistry with them. Baseball’s season kicks off at home, on February 21.
