3 Reasons Why Your Hair is Constantly Shedding

Every time I brush my hair, the amount of hair that comes off on the brush is alarming. Then, when I shower I shed more hair down the drain, and every time I run my fingers through my hair during the day I’m destined to pull out a generous amount. I’m shocked I still have hair on my head. So, why do girls seem to shed SO much hair? After extensive research, I’ve noted the top three reasons we’re loosing our  hair…

1.You’re Hair is Over-Processed

This means you could be shampooing too often, which strips your hair of its natural oils. If you highlight or dye your hair throughout the year, the color is only damaging it, especially if you’re bleaching it. Constantly getting color added to your hair causes it to thin out, break, split, and eventually fall out. Also, what products are you using on your hair throughout the week? If you’re using more than three (not counting shampoo and conditioner) you’re overwhelming your hair. Putting different products that promise to work different miracles on your hair could actually be damaging it. Pick your top three products and stop there. Also, minimize heat! Blow drying, curling and flat ironing your hair slowly burn it and cause the ends to break. Try to only use heat once a week if you can.

2. Your Eating Habits

Your hair needs proper nutrients to be healthy just like your body does! You need a good balance of vitamins, proteins, iron and magnesium to stay healthy. If you’re living off of cereal and tostitos, neither your body nor hair is getting the nutrients it needs. Start a food diary to make sure you’re properly balancing all the goods.

3. Stress

Some may think it’s a myth, but stress does in fact make your hair fall out! If you’re too overwhelmed with school, clubs and organizations, work, friends, significant others, having a social life or whatever else you could take on… take a step back! Take 10 minutes to yourself every morning to stretch or meditate, it calms you down and allows you relax. This simple step will help you to minimize stress and get a healthy start to your day.

These three things seem to be the main factors in causing women to loose hair. Personally, I think my eating habits are horrible (I do live off of cereal and tostitos) and I’m stressed. I’m going to work on fixing these things and see what my hair loss results turn to.
