The Best Brunch in Westchester: Polpettina
What New York girl doesn’t love a Sunday brunch? That’s like trying to find a Texan who doesn’t love football.
Luckily for those of you like me, NYC and Westchester restaurants alike acknowledge this love of brunch and seize this opportunity to serve bottomless mimosas and breakfast foods at 1pm.
One of my favorite spots is Polpettina in Eastchester, which literally means “little meatball.”
It’s a small, contemporary pizzeria and restaurant that serves modern Italian dishes and other classics with a twist. The decor is rustic and it’s cozy size and atmosphere make it feel homey.
Here you’ll find specialty pies with fig, truffle honey, goat cheese and pancetta or chicken meatballs in a savory, sesame soy sauce.
For $35 you’ll get a brunch that includes a plate of hot, fresh assorted breakfast pastries, an appetizer (the Eggplant Chips will change your life), and an entree along with as many mimosas (grapefruit, classic, and seasonal flavors like apple cider) or beer cocktails you can handle!
I highly recommend anything-but my go-to’s are:
- Brunch Pizza with potatoes, prosciutto, eggs and fresh mozzarella
- Penne vodka
- Bacon, egg and cheese Stromboli
They also serve traditional breakfasts with flare like their french toast flavored with bananas, caramel, and toasted coconut and their own authentic version of eggs “benny” benedict with pork belly, ricotta, and basil hollandaise sauce.
You have to be an early bird to have the honor of experiencing this hidden gem, though. They are first-come-first-serve and Westchester natives will wait forever to snag a table.
