What Does President-Elect Donald Trump Listen To?
Well the election happened, the American people have spoken, and Donald Trump against all odds has become the President-Elect and I can’t be more excited! So in the interest of supporting our great President-Elect I feel as though it’s my civic duty to educate the public on what our future president listens too, so maybe his greatness will rub off on you (or at least his taste in music.)
The first song we can relate to President-Elect Trump is “We Are The Champions” by Queen that he played at the Republican National Convention during his dramatic entrance. It fits perfectly with Trump’s theme. I remember when watching it I just got that vibe that there was no way he was going to lose this election. How appropriate considering the republicans completely obliterated the democrats during the election by taking control of the house, senate, and gaining the Presidency.
Elton John’s songs “Tiny Dancer” and “Rocket Man” have also appeared in his rallies during his campaign trail. Now if our President-Elect was truly a homophobe, would he really have chosen music by a gay man? I think not! However, I should note that Elton John did not want his music played at political rallies. He told the guardian: “I don’t really want my music to be involved in anything to do with an American election campaign. I’m British. I’ve met Donald Trump, he was very nice to me, it’s nothing personal, his political views are his own, mine is very different, I’m not a Republican in a million years. Why not ask Ted f**king Nugent? Or one of those f**king country stars? They’ll do it for you.”

Trump has had his friend Dee Snider, from metal band Twisted Sister, allow him to use the song “We’re Not Gonna Take It” at his rallies, and Trump made it the anthem of his campaign, which is also appropriate considering the Trump campaign has been a people’s rebellion against the government establishment. Many voters I talked too felt like Hillary represented corruption and the problem with the government, and it showed on election day. However, Snider asked Trump to stop using his song, in an interview with Billboard he said “I had to ask him to stop using the song. I said, ‘I didn’t realize some of the things you were going to represent — the wall, banning Muslims. I can’t get behind some of these things,’ and he said ‘OK’ and stopped using it and that was it.”
