Teaching important concepts in accounting to students and helping students achieve their career goals are some of the things that Dr. Charles Tang enjoys about being a professor and the chairperson of the Accounting Department at Pace University.
Tang has a long and rewarding career at Pace University. “I’m based on the [New York City] campus, though I’ve had the pleasure of teaching accounting courses across multiple campuses over the past 28 years.”
Tang teaches classes in Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, and International Accounting. Tang states, “One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is helping students succeed in the accounting profession and guiding them toward becoming [Certified Public Accountants]—a credential that’s not only a professional certification but also a government-issued license that can open many exciting career paths.”
Before becoming the chairperson of the Accounting Department, Tang served as the faculty advisor to Pace’s Beta Alpha Psi chapter, which is an international organization for students in accounting, finance, and information systems.
Tang also shares what he likes to do in his spare time. “When I have a bit of free time, I enjoy taking my motorcycle out for a ride along the country roads near my home in Clinton, New Jersey—it’s a great way to recharge.”
Dr. Tang is a recipient of the Kenan Award for Teaching Excellence from Pace University and the Excellence in Research Award from the Lubin School of Business.
