This past week, students had the opportunity to express their personal, academic and professional goals at the “DIY Vision Boards” event, hosted by Tabletop Club and Career Services at Kessel Multipurpose Room. Andi el-Saieh, president of the Tabletop Club, states, “The purpose of this event is to give students the opportunity to connect with Career Services in a relaxed and creative environment while thinking about their future goals.” Snacks were offered at the event.
By designing their vision boards, students are guided to think about what they would like to achieve in their personal and professional lives. “By creating vision boards, students can visually represent their career goals, whether that be career paths, internships, academic goals, or personal achievements,” el-Saieh said.
Students also had the chance to learn more about the services that Career Services offers. “Through this collaboration, we hope students realize that Career Services is a supportive resource available to them from the moment they arrive here at Pace University,” said el-Saieh. “Ideally, students will leave the event with a better understanding of the resources and guidance available from Career Services while feeling more comfortable reach out to the department.”
The event also served to inspire students to utilize Career Services early in their college careers. Andi el-Saieh points out the importance of connecting with Career Services early on.
“One of our main goals is for students to begin building a connection with Career Services earlier in their college experience. Many students wait until their junior or senior year to visit Career Services, which can mean missing out on valuable opportunities for career preparation, internships, résumé building, and networking.”
