Pace Football Wins Their Season Opener vs East Stroudsburg University

Pace University Football won their first game of the year this past Thursday.

A 34-16 Victory over non-conference opponent East Stroudsberg University gave them a 1-0 start with players from the past in the stands on Pace Football Alumni Day.

The Setters jumped out to an electric 14-0 start. Graduate wide receiver Ramir Tann-Davis returned the opening kickoff all 109 yards for a touchdown giving big momentum to the team. Just a minute later at the 13:48 mark, The Setters scored by air. Graduate quarterback Carlton Aiken dropped a pass to junior wide receiver Teddy Harper for 6 more points.

On the defensive side of the ball, Pace held East Stroudsburg to just two field goals. They finished the first half with 6 points. Ben Franchino the senior kicker for Pace kicked in 1 extra point and 2 field goals to add on 7 points. At halftime, Pace was leading 20-6

The Setters would make sure they keep their lead safe in the second quarter. Both defenses would keep the opposing offense from scoring until the 10-minute mark when Pace struck again. A pass from Aiken to Harper capped off a 2-play, 86-yard drive to score 6 more. To keep pushing the envelope, the Setters’ Special Teams connected on a two-point conversion making it 28-6.

Pace’s defense would concede just one touchdown to East Stroudsburg in the second half, coming just under 12 minutes left in the fourth quarter. In the end, the Final score was Pace 31, East Stroudsburg 16.

The Setters go on the road for the first time this Saturday when they play NE-10 opponent Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
