Aiken Sets Touchdown Record As Pace Crushes Post
Pleasantville, N.Y.- Pace Football got back in the win column in a big way, blowing out Post University 45-6.
Midway through the game, graduate student quarterback Carlton Aiken broke the record for career passing touchdowns in the blue and gold, throwing his 42nd in the second quarter.
Pace would stifle Post on defense, allowing zero points through the first 3 quarters.
In the first quarter alone, Pace would jump ahead by 21. Aiken and freshman running back Nasir Givens would run in the first two scores and Aiken would drop in a 9-yard pass for junior wide receiver Tyreek Smith to get in the end zone.
By the end of the half, The Setters were leading 35-0. The defense remained standing tall and still producing, adding 14 points in the second quarter. By then the fight was on.
Ben Franchino, the senior kicker, sent the Setters’ last 6 points through the uprights in the second half. Post’s offense would finally get on the board with a touchdown with just under 3 minutes left on the clock. However, they would not get point 7 as a blocked kick, this put the icing on the cake for Pace’s defensive line.
The Setters will travel once again to Connecticut this Saturday, October 8th to play the University of New Haven. They will return to Pleasantville the following week, October 15th for the homecoming game versus American International College. Both games have a kickoff time of 1 p.m.
