Best Resources on Campus

Pace has attempted to increase resources within the past year, in order to make them more convenient and inclusive. There are several services provided by Pace for mental and physical health, help with classes, residential issues, and general issues.

The Counseling Center provides several services for students based off their mental health needs. They provide individual or group counseling for students, including Harmless, a program that students can participate in for questions and concerns they may have pertaining to alcoholism.

The center is located next to the OSA building, students can walk-in from Monday to Friday between 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm or make an appointment by calling 914-773-3710.

However, if the student is having an emergency there is also a counselor on call at all times that can be contacted by calling security or through a residential assistant.

“Students often think they need to be in a really bad place to go to the counseling center,” said Dr. Lauren Saler, Senior Staff Psychologist of the counseling center. “Coming to us before you get to that point can be supportive and preventative.”

The center also provides a relaxation room for students to use throughout the semester, which is being relaunched and will be located in Elm Hall. The room contains a large massage chair and lamps.

For concerns related to physical health, students can go to the University Health Care Center, located on the bottom floor of the Goldstein Fitness Center. Students are required to bring in their insurance cards or a picture of it and fill out an intake form in order to be seen by the nurse.

In order to help students be the best possible students they can be, the tutoring center has re-launched as the Learning Assistance Center and now includes a program to make students better learners and will assist students on how to read textbooks, take notes, and develop new skills, as well as tutor them in subjects they are struggling in.

“Students can create an appointment in person or online through tutortrac,” said Melissa Meireles, the Coordinator of Content Tutoring.

Career Services is another commonly used resource at Pace, which helps to prepare students for jobs by conducting various workshops to build interview skills, create strong resumes, and provide job and internship opportunities for students. They are located in the Gannett House, which is up the hill near the Security building, but also have a satellite office, located in Suite 200 in Kessel Student Center. In order to make Career Services more accessible to students, they can conduct meetings over the phone, in person, or on Skype. Students can walk-in or create an appointment by calling 914-773-3415.

For residential issues, students are recommended to contact their Residential Assistant (RA) or any Residential Director (RD) in order to find a solution or for any maintenance issues.

For general issues, such as being locked out of a classroom, jump-starting your car, or any safety issue at Pace, it’s best to call security for help.

“I called security last year to get help jumpstarting my car. I didn’t know they did that for you. It’s super useful,” said Stephanie Simons, a junior at Pace.
