Everyone has their own opinion on Kessel food. Some may think it is not bad, some think it is horrible, but I believe Kessel’s food has improved in the time I’ve attended this school.

As a second-semester commuter at Pace, I feel Kessel’s improved from last semester. Last semester I would cringe when going to Kessel. I would go just because I was starving and needed to eat something, but now I like the food they offer.

After my 9 AM class, I go up to the food line to get something to go and usually get french toast sticks, hash brown potatoes, and eggs. I would end up eating them in a couple of minutes, it could be because I am starving, but to me, it’s pretty good.

The french toast is soft and the staff adds powdered sugar, which makes it taste better. Add some syrup and it’s like I’m eating at home. The hash brown potatoes are soft as well and spicy at the same time.

Another option for students to eat is the hot food, which gives us a variety of options such as egg whites or bacon, egg and cheeses.

Residents are the one’s that really have to deal with eating at Kessel the most and they know better than anyone what food is the best and worst in Kessel.

The deli is another solid option where students should eat. It offers fresh ham and turkey sandwiches that I enjoy and always get when given an opportunity to go. However, the issue I have with the deli is that there’s only one station and the lines are often very long. It can take awhile to get my food and I often have to choose between waiting for a fresh sandwich or getting to class on time.

Indeed, Kessel has improved, but improvements can still be made. Students that live on campus can pay more than $60,000 in tuition. Therefore, if Pace wants students to be happy with the food they should survey students to find out what sort of foods they like and do not like.

In my opinion, adding another deli to Kessel or another grill for hot food would be beneficial to residents and commuters alike. These two options would allow students easier access to food and it would result in shorter lines at the deli station and help student’s get to class on time.
